DirectID was established over ten years ago by CEO James Varga to capitalise on the emerging potential of PSD regulation. We now operate in over thirty countries and count major lenders, global manufacturing companies, and some of the world’s most successful internet brands among our customers.

DirectID is a fast growing fintech with a strong product vision and ambitious growth objectives. Two years ago, DirectID partnered with Amadeus Capital and Six Thirty to solidify our lead position in the UK and continue our expansion into international markets.

The Role:

The role of the Chief Commercial Officer is to grow revenue, customer numbers, and overall market share. They must develop a scalable commercial model that impresses customers and drives value for shareholders, while building a positive, ambitious culture that is attractive to talent.

The Chief Commercial Officer will be responsible for all revenue related activities, including sales, business development, demand generation, branding and marketing communications. They will play a crucial role in shaping the company strategy, evolving the DirectID proposition, and driving customer engagement. The CCO will support the CEO and COO as DirectID grows and open banking becomes an integral part of the fintech landscape.


  • Collaborate with the CEO in setting and driving the sales roadmap, organizational vision, marketing strategy, and long term business plans of DirectID
  • Translate the businesses strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth, managing, forecasting, and reporting on all new business sales and marketing outcomes
  • Lead and demonstrate a culture of effective planning based on data, metrics and KPIs, measure and influence the results of the sales team, be accountable for all sales and marketing outcomes
  • Deliver targeted growth in ARR (annual recurring revenue), develop an effective pricing model, position DirectID as a value based competitor within the open banking ecosystem
  • Define the brand identity and marketing communications strategy, develop PR opportunities that position the company as a thought leader and ally to the credit risk industry
  • Manage the marketing campaigns and funnel, use demand generation tactics to develop interest into qualified leads, utilise data and insight to define the TAM and customer personae
  • Design a sales and marketing org, hire exceptional talent, onboard new employees, develop and mentor them, create a commercial team that inspires pride and delivers results
  • Establish policies that promote a progressive company culture and vision, build a highly inclusive team that thrives on common objectives, lead from the front in all ways

The Candidate:

  • Proven commercial operator at C-suite or VP level in technology, banking or fintech
  • Data centric, someone who has worked with data and SaaS products
  • Track record of leading and scaling a fast-growing technology company or Fintech
  • Financial Services background in retail banking, lending, or credit risk desirable
  • Evidence of leading and delivering results in an international software business
  • Hands-on sales and marketing leader, unafraid to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in
  • Credible and knowledgeable fintech executive able to converse peer to peer with customers
  • Fintech thought leader or someone who actively contributes to the fintech community
  • Entrepreneurial character, someone with a proven track record in start-up, PE or scale up
  • Ambitious and hungry, a senior executive who is still highly motivated and high energy
